"As malls are evolving, we really felt the need, that the entertainment component is what we were missing," Bethany Webb, director of marketing and business development at Potomac Mills, told WTOP in February 2026. She was talking about more than a new attraction. Several of the spaces left empty when national chains folded are now being rebuilt around activities that keep people inside for hours, not for a quick shopping trip.
That changes what a Saturday at Potomac Mills looks like for anyone in Woodbridge. At Stonebridge at Potomac Town Center, the same idea is moving from family afternoons into adult evenings.
The clearest way to see the change is to match each former tenant with what replaced it. WTOP reported the swaps in early 2026, and most of them have now opened.
| Former tenant | What took the space | Status as of October 2026 |
|---|---|---|
| A women's clothing store | Kids Jungle Playground | Open, in Neighborhood 5 |
| andThat! and Buy Buy Baby, both shut down in 2023 and 2024 | Slick City Action Park | Opened June 13, 2026 |
| American Freight | Ace Pickleball Club | Announced, with a target of the second half of 2026 |
Slick City is the biggest of these by far. It takes up 70,000 square feet in Neighborhood 5 near Books-A-Million and has 16 waterless slides. The Woodbridge Gazette reported that it is the largest Slick City in the country and the chain's first park on the East Coast. The slides are for ages 5 and up, a soft-play area serves younger children, and passes ran $30 to $36 as of the Gazette's July 2026 update. Northern Virginia Magazine's opening coverage also listed air courts, a toddler jungle gym and party rooms.
Kids Jungle Playground is in the same wing. With both open, Neighborhood 5 now has activities for toddlers and older kids side by side.
Webb explained the goal in plain terms. "You can bring your entire family, so everyone has something to do, right? And you can spend hours here, you can spend all day here," she told WTOP.
The mall had already prepared for longer visits before any of this opened. Potomac Local reported in February 2025 that the Dining Pavilion remodel was finished, with more types of seating and new device-charging stations. The food court stayed open during the work. Those upgrades are aimed at people who stay through a meal and need to charge a phone, which fits the visits Slick City and Kids Jungle now create.
The first openings served families. The projects still underway at both centers are for adults with an evening free.
At Potomac Mills, Ace Pickleball Club is planned for about 32,600 square feet. Plans call for ten full courts, two smaller dinking courts and an event space. WTOP reported a target of the second half of 2026, and no opening has been confirmed yet. Treat it as coming, with no firm date. Texas de Brazil is also on the way. Simon lists the Brazilian steakhouse as "Coming Soon" outside the Cheesecake Factory entrance, and the Washington Business Journal reported in April 2026 that it will have its own freestanding building there. No opening date has been announced.
Slick City is testing the adult crowd too. Its October calendar includes an adults-only Halloween night, covered in the dates below.
At Stonebridge at Potomac Town Center, the move into evenings is further along. Cooper's Hawk Winery & Restaurant, which InsideNoVa reported was set to open May 18 at 14901 Potomac Town Place, was open by the Woodbridge Gazette's July 2026 update. InsideNoVa reported a 260-seat dining room, a 76-seat covered patio, a bar and a private dining room. Spaces built for groups and celebrations are part of the plan.
Patch reported on October 2 that GameOn bar + arcade is also coming to Stonebridge. It will be the chain's first Virginia location, after three in Maryland and one in Washington, DC. Owner Casey Linthicum of Columbia, Maryland, described it this way. "We wanted to open a fun place for adults to hang out, be able to drink, but also have activities so you're not just sitting at a bar." Patch called it adult but kid-friendly, with a full bar and food menu. The owners hope to open before the end of the year and expect to hire for several positions.
Two smaller additions are also on the way. Stonebridge's own tenant pages list Bebop Korean Mexican Grill and Scoops & Sweets by Kilwins as "Coming Soon," with no opening dates yet.
Taken together, the two centers now cover more of the day than either did alone. Potomac Mills handles afternoons with kids. Stonebridge, and soon Ace Pickleball and Texas de Brazil, handle the evening after.
The fall and holiday calendar shows the change clearly. Most of these events are about spending time on site, not shopping.
October 24 is the busiest day on the list. A family could do the morning walk and Fall-O-Ween at Stonebridge, and adults could go to Slick City's late session that night. The Fall-O-Ween and holiday market dates come from organizer and vendor pages, not the center's own calendar, so confirm them closer to the day.
Slick City's hours vary week to week. For the week of October 7, it opens at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Thursday and Tuesday, at 11 a.m. on Friday, and at 10 a.m. on the weekend and Monday. It stays open until 10:30 p.m. on Saturday. The Slick City calendar has current hours before you go.
